Temperatures could dip below zero
Nottinghamshire could creep back into below zero degree temperatures over the next two days, according to the Met Office. It comes after the forecaster and UK Health Security Agency put out a cold weather alert for all areas of England from 6pm on Sunday, February 5, until 6pm on Tuesday, February 7.
Whilst temperatures are expected to top at a mild 10C in Nottinghamshire today , they are expected to dip slightly in the following two days. Sunday and Monday are predicted to see highs of 7C, however this could fall to as low as -1C in the early hours of the morning, likely leading to frost. The weather is expected to stay dry and clear. The Met Office's outlook for Sunday in the East Midlands reads: "Sunday likely to be dry and bright, with some cloudy interludes. Breezy in the morning, but winds easing through the day. Maximum temperature 7 °C."For Monday to Wednesday, it adds: "A widespread frost on Monday but another clear, sunny day. Cloudier on Tuesday, perhaps a spot of rain possible later. Largely dry with sunny spells on Wednesday.
Speaking after the announcement of the countrywide weather warning, Dr Agostinho Sousa, Consultant in Public Health Medicine at UKHSA, said: "Cold weather can have serious consequences for health, with older people and those with heart or lung conditions particularly at risk. It’s important to check in on family, friends and relatives who are more vulnerable to the cold weather."
