Maximum Security, ridden by jockey Luis Saez, finished first in the 2019 Kentucky Derby in a sloppy, rain-soaked course on Saturday at the 145th running of horses racing's prestigious Churchill Downs Inc CHDN, +1.53% The win was the fifth for the horse, a 9-2 favorite. The run for the roses was the first since 2015 that fielded fewer than a full field of 20, after longshot Haikal scratched Saturday morning, coming after field favorite Omaha Beach, scratched on Wednesday.
