The 56-year-old woman was found beaten to death behind a building in April 2018, according to authorities.
Mark Huff pleaded guilty last month to aggravated manslaughter for the killing of 56-year-old Vernell K. Vance, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill.
Based on a 911 call, police discovered Vance’s body April 14, 2018 behind a building on South Tennessee Avenue, the prosecutor said in a statement. She suffered “significant” head trauma. Two days later, Huff was arrested by detectives with the prosecutor’s office major crimes unit, and Atlantic City police with help from Pleasantville officers, Shill said. NJ Transit police were “instrumental” in identifying Huff as a suspect in the killing, the prosecutor said.
Huff was seen on surveillance footage beating the 56-year-old woman with a concrete masonry block and stomping on her,
