The steps David Masotti has taken since he was charged with setting two fires in 2021 convinced a judge to give him a break when he appeared in court last week.
Masotti was charged with arson in connection with April 30 and Aug. 2, 2021 incidents that occurred on McNabb Street The Crown was seeking a suspended sentence and probation.Masotti appeared via video from the centre, which offers a 12-month, in-residence alcohol and drug rehabilitation program for adults."It was a period of time in my life when I was lost," Masotti said. "I hope you are able to recognize they stem from substance abuse and the lifestyle I lived at the time.
Masotti has taken the necessary steps, has been successful and has a plan in place that will continue once the residential program is completed."He has turned his life around and made positive changes."He poured gasoline on a wood pile and moved it around in a wheelbarrow. "I don't know why. He was heavily into substance abuse at the time and it affected his thinking," Condon said.
