More than 80% of Justice Department employees will continue working in the event of a government shutdown, according to areleased earlier this week, either because their jobs are deemed “necessary to protect life and property” or because compensation is financed by a resource other than annual appropriation.
Special counsels are instead funded by “the permanent, indefinite appropriation for independent counsels,” according to their expenditure reports.The first arguments of the Supreme Court’s next term are scheduled on Monday. The high court will continue to conduct its “normal operations” relying on permanent funds that are not subject to annual approval, a spokesperson told CNN in a statement.
