There are Boxing Day traffic delays up and down the motorway following several incidents
Multiple collisions on the M6 have seen miles of queues stretch on both northbound and southbound route'sas Boxing Day traffic turns chaotic. As many head out to see family or make the most of the sales , there are tailbacks in several areas of the motorway. According to National Highways, this is due to several incidents.
The M6 is currently experiencing a high volume of traffic after a second multi-vehicle collision was reported this afternoon. There have been multiple closures - including four between junctions 19 and 18. Although these have been mostly cleared, two lanes on the carriageway remain shut.Earlier today in Cumbria, a separate traffic problem on the southbound route had traffic trailing around Shap. Both incidents have had a knock on effect to those planning or already making journeys today.
Motorists heading out are advised to plan ahead, and avoid congested areas where possible. Near Cheshire, a multi-vehicle crash is currently halting traffic travelling southbound.and other major routes in and around the county this Boxing Day. Scroll down for more updates.
