The Ontario government will fund bail compliance units across the province but the problem is, Trudeau\u0027s bail law is still weak.

While the action should have come earlier, this news from Ford is welcome.

Sadly, due to our federal legislation around bail, we will see criminals, even violent and repeat offenders, still released far too quickly. Bill C-75, passed by the Trudeau Liberals back in 2019 ties the hands of judges call for them to release people on bail as quickly as possible. Privately judges and justices of the peace will tell stories of trying to hold back repeat violent offenders, to deny them bail, only to have those rulings overturned on a quick appeal. Our justice system is designed to ensure bail is the default option, even for people who don’t deserve it.
