Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney and Metrolinx boss Phil Verster finally start giving some details on never\u002Dending delays on LRT.

Mulroney defended Verster’s last pay increase and said she looks forward to continuing to work with him but didn’t comment on the request to bump his pay and bonus structure to north of $1 million per year. Given his record and the disaster that is Crosstown, that request doesn’t appear to be a well-earned pay hike.

Ontario Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney, scrums with the media in the Ontario legislature in Toronto, on Monday, October 28, 2019. Mulroney is defending delays in opening a midtown Toronto light rail transit line, saying Ottawa’s LRT is an example of what happens when a transit system starts operating before it is ready.Verster took to the podium at one point and said there were 260 quality-related problems that Metrolinx has identified and that Crosslinx must fix.

As previously reported by the Sun, the Toronto Transit Commission has yet to sign an operating agreement to take over the line and they can’t begin training drivers until the line is fully completed, another factor in delaying the public from being able to use the system.Article content
