Readers question why Dallas County has pay problems; put a spotlight on health care problems in light of a CEO’s murder; and try to be more positive about Dallas.Dallas County upgraded its coding for payroll to clearly identify when employees work over 40 hours if it is compensatory or overtime.
People who live with chronic pain, botched surgeries, invisible illnesses and so many other debilitating health conditions can often become mentally unstable if they are unable to get good, reliable and affordable treatment. Even people of, as you say, “great privilege” can find insurance and medical care unaffordable, especially if they are young adults trying to make it on their own.
The events of this past week are going to bring about a larger conversation about this issue. That may hopefully bring much needed change because hate speech changes nothing.But first, we need to grieve. Grieve for a woman who lost her husband. Grieve for her children who lost their father. Grieve for a father and mother who have lost a son who has irrevocably ruined his future because he is confused, shortsighted and bitter about his lot in life due to unrelenting chronic pain.
