As far as I know, local music history does not have a home. You can check out a local library, Memorial University, the music school, but you better have specific information on what you're looking for. Or, if you're doing research on a specific period or music group, pickins' can be slim. There's no place to just casually browse and learn about our music.
Back in 2015, our ad hoc committee tried to develop a local rock and roll hall of fame. We know that history inside and out. We met with people who could open doors. Everyone thought it was a great idea. They regaled about the bands they knew. The great times they had.Much of that local rock and roll history we gathered was from old newspaper articles, TV and radio clips and good ol' gumshoe digging. But in the last few years, all those resources have dried up.
