, she blends a rosy cream blush on the cheeks and lids for a brightening wash of color. “As an actress, you get to play all kinds of radical characters in period films, and many times I’ve been a bit of a mess of a character, so it’s about stripping down,” she explains while lining her lips within a deep your-lips-but-better pink.
“I’ve also [been] glamorous women without being truly done in an elegant way, like Renata.” Her makeup complete, Dern lets down her hair and shakes it out, letting her soft waves fall where they may. “I’m wearing the best pair of pajamas right now, which you can’t see,” she says with a laugh. “I just want to live in [them]. But I will take the pajamas off and put on jeans and a T-shirt, and maybe some Birkenstocks. Maybe I’ll just do that today.” Sounds like a plan to us.
