Canyon Duff Moye was serving a sentence for theft at Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore. He alleged that the prison’s medical director, Dr. Manuel Pouparinas, was “deliberately indifferent” to his medical needs while incarcerated from October 2019 through August 2022.“Certainly, it’s important to Canyon, and it’s deserved,” she told FOX10 News.

According to court records, the 28-year-old Uriah man suffered an injury in a car accident in 2015, resulting in peripheral neuropathy, or lack of feeling in his left leg and foot. He suffered an injury to the toe on his left foot.Moye’s lawyers argued that Pouparinas’ indifference exacerbated the injury, forcing the partial amputation to be performed in 2020 at North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette.

Pouparinas denied the allegation. His lawyers maintained that Moye’s foot infection had healed two months before he got transferred from the Escambia County Jail to the state prison system.Baldwin sisters tried to pay woman to kill Louisiana man, make it look like overdose, agent testifies
