Why Tellus You Care picked Japan to test its technology for elderly people Sponsored by japan

Elderly people living or spending time alone may suffer everything from loneliness and sleeplessness to breathing problems and falls that require immediate medical attention. Elder-monitoring solutions developed so far include camera systems, which compromise privacy, and wearables, which require recharging and can be cumbersome.

The Tellus monitor could also prove to be a useful tool in the fight against COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. As governments around the world encourage their citizens to be on the lookout for early symptoms of the illness, the sensitivity of the Tellus technology could alert physicians to potential cases. In one, a screen behind Tellus machine learning engineer Srivatsan Ramesh shows his breathing and heartrate waveforms.

In California, Tellus began building its machine learning and deep learning software systems to analyze radar readings, and in Japan it began developing the product’s hardware. With All Turtles acting as a strategic advisor and making introductions in Japan, Tellus formed relationships with major Japanese technology companies and tested its prototype in Kobe. The startup has raised a total of $2.
