A Metro Vancouver man stayed up till the early morning hours to capture the northern lights on camera.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a ‘severe’ level 4G storm was on display Sunday across Canada, showing off the aurora borealis. “When I was looking at the weather charts, it was probably clearing up after 1 a.m. or 2 a.m.,” he says.At 2:23 a.m., the clouds started to clear in the northwest direction and he was able to snap the shot.
"You can faintly see the pillars with the naked eye, but mostly viewable through a camera," says Yau. This isn’t the first time Yau has captured the northern lights. He’s photographed them six times and enjoys his hobby. “Once you get hooked on it, then you just keep getting hooked on it. You always want to see the best show, right?”
