Hydro One will be building a 22-kilometre transmission line to hook the province’s electricity grid to a new, tinier kind of nuclear reactor in Bowmanville.“Ontario’s energy demand is growing,” said Daniel Levitan, vice president of stakeholder relations at Hydro One, in an interview with Durham Radio News. “This new transmission is there to meet that demand.
According to Levitan, the 500-kilovolt line should be ready beforehand, in 2027. The company has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment for the project.
