Huge water tunnel plan and aqueduct works for Forest of Bowland, Lancaster, Ribble Valley, Hyndburn and Rossendale
A huge plan to upgrade a north-west regional drinking water system, running from the Lake District through Lancashire and the protected Forest of Bowland to Greater Manchester, is being considered by Lancaster councillors today .

ROAD-WIDENING AND HGV VEHICLE CONVOYS Road improvements would be needed before the work at Lower Houses. During the five years there would be periods of activity and relative inactivity on the Lower Houses site. A total period of around two and a half years of construction-related activity is expected.
Because of the scale and nature of the water system planning proposals, and the sensitivity of the working locations, the United Utilities have been subject to an environmental assessment . An environmental statement outlines the expected impacts and mitigation measures, Lancaster councillors are being told.updates in response to issues raised by residents and others.
