BREAKING: Man's body pulled from canal amid huge emergency services response
The body of a man has been recovered from a stretch of the Manchester Ship Canal near to a toll bridge, the fire service has confirmed.
Firefighters were called at around 1.45pm today after multiple reports of a person in the water. Fire crews then assisted police and paramedics in retrieving a body. Fire crews from stations in Irlam and Eccles responded to the alert and remained at the scene for around two and a half hours.
