Just 8% of U.S. adults are both highly religious and very concerned about climate change, and people of color largely make up the share of those who do express concern, per a recent Pew report.

47% of respondents who are both highly religious and worried about climate change are white, 27% are Black, 18% are Hispanic and 5% are Asian. They also found patterns that reveal political trends within religious groups, which the report describes as"Highly religious Americans are more inclined than others to identify with or lean toward the Republican Party, and Republicans tend to be much less likely than Democrats to believe that human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, [are] warming the earth, or to consider climate change a serious problem," Alper tells Axios.

"They would be more exposed to pollution and toxicity and experience more of the adverse effects of climate change.
