Birds of Prey star Jurnee Smollett has been tapped to star opposite Taron Egerton in Apple TV+'s upcoming thriller drama Firebug.
Smollett is set to play Michelle, a rising-star detective who will work with Egerton’s enigmatic arson investigator to pursue the trail of two serial arsonists. The project is loosely inspired by true events told in truth.media’s Firebug podcast. This marks Smollett’s small-screen comeback, following her Emmy-nominated performance in 2020’s supernatural drama Lovecraft Country.Firebug is created, written and executive produced by Dennis Lehane.
This marks Egerton’s latest collaboration with Apple, after starring in 2022’s crime drama series Black Bird, and in last year’s Tetris biopic. TheMaggie Dela Paz has been writing about the movie and TV industry for more than four years now. Besides being a fan of coming-of-age films and shows, she also enjoys watching K-Dramas and listening to her favorite K-Pop groups.
