The more you know about the county giving $110K to the National Gun Association and liaison Jeff Haste to bring its show back to the Farm Show, the more it stinks to high heaven.
Watching the Dauphin County commissioners give $110,000 to the National Rifle Association and Jeff Haste looks icky in a couple of different ways.; he served as a Republican commissioner from 2002 until 2021. In fact, he was chairman of the commissioners from 2004 until 2021. I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of him, standing with his fellow commissionersPries, a Republican has been on the board since 2010.
Hartwick and Pries said they have no problem handing over the money — which comes from hotel tax — because the big outdoor show generates tens of millions of dollars for hotels, restaurants and other businesses in the region. They claim they have to stroke the NRA because it’s considered taking its show to one of many other cities that would love to host all those gun lovers and outdoorsmen., which owns the Farm Show Building, according to Pennlive reporter Juliette Rihl.
