Carpentersville police therapy K9 dog Walter will be attending a Fox River Valley Public Library card sign-up event being held Wednesday at Carpentersville Village Hall.Kids can meet Carpentersville police therapy K9 dog Walter and sign up for Fox River Valley Public Library cards during an event set for 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Carpentersville Village Hall, 1200 LW Besinger Drive.

Police officers will be reading from books and treats available, according to a post on the Carpentersville Public Safety Facebook page.Walter is a full-bred American fox hound who was found as a stray and trained through the Paws and Stripes College in Brevard County, Florida. He’s been with the Carpentersville Police Department since 2021.A job fair for more than 100 positions available at Elgin Community College will be held Thursday at the school's 1700 Spartan Drive campus.

Hiring managers will be available to answer questions and provide information on the application process, an ECC news release said. Anyone who attends will be able to take a free, professional headshot with the college’s photographer.There are more than 100 open ECC positions — 22 full-time jobs; 40 part-time posts, about half of which are adjunct faculty positions; 43 student worker hourly positions; and 10 temporary positions.Randall Oaks Zoo’s annual Fall Fest is being held from 9 a.m.

The festival will feature pedal tractors, pumpkin enrichment activities for zoo animals, fall treats will be sold and hayrides available for $3.50 per person, according to the zoo’s website.Advertisement
