Certain movies and shows in the DCU's slate promise to fulfill some of the unfinished ideas that Zack Snyder's DCEU didn't get a chance to develop.
The DCU's confirmed slate promises to fulfill five ideas that the Snyderverse couldn't fully realize. James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU aims to correct the flaws that put an end to the DCEU and build a more consistent franchise with space for standalone stories and interconnected arcs. To achieve it, the DCU must leave behind the Snyderverse's weak links but also many of its strengths, such as Henry Cavill's Superman.
Henry Cavill's Superman won't return to the DCU, as a brand-new version of the Man of Steel will lead the franchise, but fortunately, Superman: Legacy will take a fresh approach with its tone. James Gunn is drawing inspiration from All-Star Superman, and iconic Superman storyline famous for its colorful tone and hopeful themes.
3 Supergirl Will Have A Big Role In The DCU Sasha Calle's Supergirl will debut at the same time The Flash will reset the DC Universe. Curiously, though, the Snyderverse teased Supergirl's introduction from the very beginning. Man of Steel featured an open pod in the Kryptonian ship Superman gets his suit from, and Zack Snyder's Justice League revisits the same pod when the Justice League enters the ship.
Just like Supergirl, the DCU will fast-track the Green Lanterns' addition to the franchise. The upcoming Lanterns project will follow Hal Jordan and John Stewart in a mystery series akin to True Detective, which will probably serve as the bridge between the DCU's cosmic and terrestrial settings. Considering the smaller scope and more defined tone Lanterns promises, it seems that the DCU's Lanterns show will surpass Green Lantern Corps.
