The Confederation Centre of the Arts is hosting a backstage training program throughout April, for those looking to learn about working in the production industry. FileCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown is launching the third edition of its backstage training program for anyone interested in working in the production industry.
The centre said the paid opportunity gives participants hands-on training with industry professionals in production departments like lighting, props, sound, stage management and wardrobe. The training sessions will run throughout April. There are 25 spots open for the training program, and the duration is either one week for 30 hours or two weeks for 60 hours.
Lighting is a one-week program that runs from April 3-8, and the props program is two weeks long, from April 3-8 and April 10-14. The wardrobe program is two weeks long and runs from April 10-14 and April 17-21. The sound program is one-week long and runs from April 24-28, the same time as the one-week stage management program.After completing the program, some participants may be offered paid summer internships at Confederation Centre of the Arts, The Guild, Victoria Playhouse, Watermark Theatre and more. The program is open to 13-14 interns, who will be paid $18 an hour for an average of 37.5 hours a week. Applicants will need open summer availability for the internship program.
