Meet Jeff Anderson, the chef from Cole Harbour who invented McDonald's new Chicken Big Mac.
Chef Jeff Anderson, a native of Cole Harbour, invented the new Chicken Big Mac for McDonald's Canada. After several days of doing interviews, chef Jeff Anderson knew the question was coming: how does it take two years to invent a sandwich?
“At McDonald’s, servicing 1,400 restaurants across the country, we have to do due diligence and develop something that’s consistent, that our guests are going to love,” Anderson said in an interview on Monday. “It’s not as easy as one would think to deliver that, so it does take some time to do testing, to do consumer research, make sure our product works in our kitchens.”
“When somebody tells you that you’re kind of good at something, it piques your interest,” he said. “That’s when I got the idea this might be something I’d want to do as a career.” After graduating from the Culinary Institute of Canada, he worked for Hyatt Corporation in Colorado before returning home to work in the Halifax fine dining scene, at Fiasco for chef Martin Keyzlar.
