The VanMan project is dear to Lichte’s heart and one of the cornerstones of Chor Leoni’s mission.
“We took a big hit during the pandemic, like all choral groups, but we have over 100 participants signed up this year,” says Lichte.Article content One of Lichte’s top mandates is the creation and performance of new music specifically written for his ensembles. “There’s so much stigma surrounding men and mental health issues,” Lichte notes. “We are doing a world premiere by American composer Sarah Rimkus. She came to me to say her husband Thomas Lavoy has PTSD, and wanted to write a text about the experience.”
