A Pickering councillor is being criticized by fellow politicians and PFLAG's Durham chapter for voting against a motion supporting Pride Month at Monday's city

“A large number of families in our community feel that Drag Queen Storytime speaks to their values,” it read. “They express this through their continued attendance at the program every year and in their messages to us afterward.”

Meantime, Robinson’s other motion about flags follows a similar vote in the Township of Norwich. Politicians in the southwestern Ontario community recently banned non-governmental flags and banners on municipal properties. This includes the Pride flag. Robinson also told DRN that she was working on a motion regarding universal changerooms at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex.
