Christopher Nolan reveals how Marvel Studios' The Avengers would have been different if he had directed it. 2012's The Avengers completely changed cinematic history, being the first team movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which set up the next steps in the Infinity Saga that would culminate in the $2.799 billion Avengers: Endgame.

Nolan jokingly says that "there'd probably be a lot too much Tony Stark" due to him and RDJ having worked together in Oppenheimer. The director also mentions one of his strongest suits — practical filmmaking instead of relying too much on VFX — would be present in the film, as he asks Downey Jr. if he would be ready to use a real jetpack for Iron Man. While Nolan became one of DC's most successful directors, his time behind superhero movies appears to have been left in the past. Recently, Nolan killed hopes of The Dark Knight 4 ever happening in the future, and any chance that he would direct a Marvel movie along with it. Nolan was asked in an interview if he wants to direct another superhero movie in the future, to which he directly said "No.
Although Nolan is unlikely to direct a superhero movie again, there is a chance he could reevaluate his stance. In that case, a few characters in the MCU could do with Nolan's distinct style. If Charlie Cox's Daredevil ever gets a movie, Nolan could be a great fit for it, with the MCU allowing the director to use what worked in The Dark Knight trilogy and lean even closer to the comics for Matt Murdock.
