It hasn’t taken long for Bassitt, who signed a three\u002Dyear, $63 million US deal with the Jays, to win over his new teammates.

“You’re going to see a completely different starter every night,” Gausman said. “Even if it’s Manoah and Berrios back-to-back, their stuff is different. They’re sinker/slider guys, but the way the ball comes out of Manoah’s hand is a lot different than me and way different than Bassitt.”

That pitch variety of the 34-year-old is his calling card, a number that seems to vary in quantity by the day But the Jays are certainly anxious to see how it plays as a key cog in the rotation. Bassitt will be on the mound at TD Ballpark on Saturday facing the Baltimore Orioles for his third start of spring training.
