When you struggle with mental health, news of a suicide hits differently.
It’s what I imagine it must feel like for a drug addict hearing someone’s died of an overdose. Will that inevitably happen to me one day? Will my own demons one day win?

I can’t fathom getting that type of advice if I said I had a broken bone, a migraine, stomachache or basically any other type of medical problem. It’s insulting and condescending and makes seeking help from close family or friends frustrating and discouraging.Because life is worth it. Through all its complicated ups and downs. Through all the tears, panic attacks, anxiety, and seemingly endless despair, it’s still worth it.
