The Chargers identify another potential cornerstone piece for their offensive line.

INGLEWOOD — Many expected the Chargers to find their next right tackle in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft, but they addressed their other offensive line need on Thursday.

The Chargers drafted former Boston College offensive guard Zion Johnson with the 17th overall pick. Many draft experts rated the 6-foot-2, 312-pound Johnson as the best interior offensive lineman in this year’s class. Johnson could fill the vacancy at right guard with Matt Feiler at left guard, but regardless of which guard spot he takes, he’s expected to be a starter on the Chargers’ offensive line as a rookie in 2022.
