Avalanche has significant edge over reeling Predators in first-round playoff series
Heading into action Friday, the Western Conference top-seeded Avalanche might have preferred to open the Stanley Cup playoffs against Dallas. But getting the Nashville Predators instead in a surprise could be an easier route to the second round.
Instead, the Stars — who rallied to defeat Anaheim 4-2 on Friday — will travel north of the border and face the Flames. If you think Colorado is limping into the playoffs with a 4-5-1 record in its last 10 games — their worst stretch of the season — the Preds are probably more distraught. They are 4-4-2 in their last 10 games — a stretch where they won just once in regulation.
