The county is exploring the possibility of bringing in a bylaw which would see the cost of new infrastructure built passed on to the property owner receiving benefit from the improvement. Currently, all county residents would pay for anything new built whether it’s located in Baddeck, Ingonish, Dingwall or Cape North.Monica Hogan of New Haven:"We don’t want to be priced out of paradise.

Within the online petition, created by a group dubbing itself North Smokey Productions, “It is disheartening to think that if we are unable to pay these charges promptly or in full, liens could be placed on our properties. This could potentially lead to foreclosure or other severe consequences for families who are already struggling financially.
