Canadian Navy Ships to Begin Four-Month Deployment in Indo-Pacific Region

The sailpast is set to begin at 11:40 a.m. in the area of the Trial Islands, off Oak Bay’s McMicking Park. The ships should pass Clover Point about noon, Saxe Point about 12:20 p.m. and Esquimalt Lagoon about 12:30 p.m.

HMCS Vancouver, HMCS Ottawa and MV Asterix will be part of a sailpast along Victoria’s shoreline before setting out Monday on a four-month deployment.

The upcoming deployment will feature naval exercises with partners in the region, and will also see HMCS Vancouver helping to monitor United Nations sanctions against North Korea. The sprawling Indo-Pacific region is comprised of 40 countries from Australia and India to China, the Philippines and Japan.
