An Altamont Corridor Express train was evacuated Tuesday when a mudslide covered the tracks.
Bay Area was evacuated Tuesday morning after a mudslide covered the tracks, officials said.
The Altamont Corridor Express train was traveling west in Niles Canyon between Sunol and Fremont when the 100-foot-tall hillside fell, Alameda County Fire Department Division Chief Randall West told SFGATE. West said first responders were called to the scene at 8:40 a.m. and they evacuated 225 people from the train. The train did not derail; there were no injuries, he said.
A different train arrived at the scene and brought the evacuated passengers to the Pleasanton station.The ACE train provides commuter service between Stockton and San Jose, Monday through Friday.
