“Butter” has now spent 20 weeks on the Hot 100.
... [+]BTS have two songs on the Hot 100 this week, just as they did last frame, only this time around they’re both falling. Last week’s ruler, “My Universe” with Coldplay,” declines from No. 1 to No. 12, falling outside the top 10 entirely, at least for now. At the same time, the septet’s previous ruler “Butter” slips from No. 36 to No. 58, sliding back by more than 20 spaces at once.
While it looks like “Butter” might not be long for the Hot 100, the globe-dominating smash does manage to make history this week simply by finding space on the chart once again. “Butter” has now lived on the Hot 100 for 20 weeks, and it’s one of only four songs by a South Korean musical act of any kind to make it to that mark. With its twentieth frame on the tally secured, BTS’s former No. 1 is now tied with Pinkfong’s “Baby Shark” as the third-longest-running Hot 100 hit by a name from the Asian nation.
