Allan submitted her design under the culture and diversity category, and she said she was flattered to have her design selected for the project.
“It gave me time to reflect on all those little nuances of the painting, and they became larger concepts in my mind that I was able to ponder and think about. It helped me a little with some personal growth and some learning. I find I'm asking more questions now and kind of wanting some answers and not turning a blind eye anymore to certain concepts,” she said.
This mural wasn’t her first - an impressive feat for someone still in school and studying. She said that she had designed and painted two other murals, but those were for her school. Having the opportunity to create something for the town, she said, was very exciting.

How new bank rules could create a two-tiered banking systemThe Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or FDIC, unveiled new regulations that will require banks with at least $100 billion in assets to issue enough long-term debt to absorb losses in case of a potential seizure. American Banker Washington Bureau Chief John Heltman explains to Yahoo Finance Live how these new regulations could potentially create a two-tiered banking system. Heltman says that these rules will include many midsized to large banks and effectively would increase 'the pressure to merge.' Heltman goes on to note that the rules wouldn't impact small banks, basically creating a two-tiered system.
