The Bookworm trailer has dropped for Vertical's upcoming adventure comedy movie, starring Elijah Wood and Nell Fisher.
The video introduces Fisher as an adventurous young girl who goes on a camping trip with her illusionist father, who suddenly reappears in her life after several years. Following its world premiere last July at the 2024 Fantasia International Film Festival, the film is now scheduled to make its debut on October 18 in theaters and on VOD.
Bookworm is directed by Ant Timpson from a screenplay written by Toby Harvard. The cast includes Wood as Strawn Wise, Fisher as Mildred, Morgana O’Reilly as Zo, Nikki Si’ulepa as Dotty, Theo Stakes as Reginald, Vanessa Stacey as Angelina, Michael Smiley and more. The film is executive produced by Harvard, Timpson, Lauren Case, Steve Demmler, Anders Erdén, Kelly Rogers, Blair Ward and Shannon D. Ward.
“The film follows 11-year-old Mildred whose life takes a wild turn when her estranged father, Strawn Wise , a washed-up Las Vegas illusionist, suddenly reappears,” reads the synopsis. “Years ago, after a magical encounter with the once-charming Strawn, Mildred’s mom moved back to New Zealand. Now, a comical mishap leaves Strawn caring for Mildred while her mom is hospitalized. Their first adventure? Camping to hunt for the mythological Canterbury Panther.
