In total, 14 bluefin, weighing a total of 8,603 pounds, were landed, as well as six big eye and one albacore weighing 34 pounds, which was auctioned off. The 21 tunas landed weighed a total of 9,375 pounds. Each year commercial tuna quota is alloted to the festival.
There was standing room only on the deck of the Lucky Strike as family and friends watch the tuna offload during the Wedgeport Tuna Festival and Tournament weight in. Kathy Johnson “It was unreal the amount of people that came. We were very happy," he said."On Saturday we were kind of worried about the rain. We couldn’t have anything in the tent that day so moved to the museum. We actually ended up selling out between Friday and Saturday. We sold about the same as last year despite the rain. It was still an amazing year.”
