The majority of Canadian women feel uncomfortable asking for a pay raise, but those that do are often rewarded and get a wage hike. Read on.
The question is, why don’t more women ask?Governments and businesses could go a long way to improving women’s careers and, by extension, bolster companies’ performance by implementing changes, such as posting salary bands on job postings, which could address the gender pay gap, she added.
Since the pandemic started, working-aged women have made significant career changes, leading to the highest level of workforce participation on record. But even though women made professional gains, their earnings didn’t keep pace. In finance, insurance and real estate jobs, women accounted for three-fifths of workers and less than half, or 46 per cent, benefited from sector-wide wage increases.
