For the third year in a row, Anchorage will end July with over 4 inches of rainANCHORAGE, Alaska - Wet and cool weather has taken hold across much of the state the last few weeks, with signs summer could be returning to parts of the state. Despite the recent uptick in precipitation, Anchorage and surrounding areas will see drier and warmer weather in the coming days.Rain showers remain this morning, as the upper level low sits right on top of Southcentral.
While some late-day sunshine looks possible, Wednesday and Thursday will bring the better potential for warmth and sunshine. The rest of this week beyond Wednesday may see highs in the mid to upper 60s. Areas of the Mat-Su Valley, western Kenai and into the Copper River Basin could see at least one to two days of highs near 70 through Monday of next week.Rain has been building into the Panhandle over the last few hours, with the next couple of days remaining on the wetter side.
It’s highly possible that by the weekend, parts of Southeast will be warming back into the mid to upper 60s.A cool and showery day is underway across the Interior. While temperatures have been fairly mild the last few days, today will bring highs in the 50s. No thunderstorm activity is expected, with any rain showers continuing to help wildfire efforts.
