Dressed in the colors of the U.S. flag, thousands of Anchorage residents celebrated an annual Fourth of July tradition that has been going on since the inception of Alaska's largest city.
ANCHORAGE , Alaska - Dressed in red, white and blue, thousands of Alaskans on Thursday convened along Delaney Park Strip to celebrate the nation’s birthday, continuing an Anchorage tradition that dates back to the early 1900s.
“It’s a very exciting day,” Anchorage International Rotary Club member Bruce Erickson said. “It’s the one-day patriotism thing, but the more you learn about 1776 and all that kind of stuff, it means more and more all the time.” “Very proud of my country,” Burton said. “A lot of my family members have been in the service and very strong ties to the military, the country.”
