Amazon has filed paperwork to open a “just walk out” Amazon Go convenience store at DFW Airport.
The 600-square-foot kiosk will be located in Terminal D, according to planning documents filed with the state. Construction is estimated to cost $650,000 and is expected to be finished by July 31. American Airlines and several international carriers use Terminal D, which has a three dozen stores and restaurants. Several other convenience store brands operate throughout the airport, including Irving-based 7-Eleven, which has four stores at DFW, including one in Terminal D.
At Amazon Go, the checkout process requires customers to download an app. The technology then tracks the shopper in the store until she walks out, when the system charges her for the items she picked up and emails a receipt.
