On Thursday, the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta jointly announced $54M in funding towards 17 affordable housing projects around Alberta, part of the federal government’s National Housing Strategy and the province’s Affordable Housing Partnership Program.
that would see a total of $678M invested towards protecting, renewing, and expanding social and affordable housing in Alberta over the next 10 years., which will provide funding to public, non-profit, or private-sector housing providers who undertake affordable housing projects.that it would be providing $27M through the Canada-Alberta Bilateral Agreement and towards funding the Affordable Housing Partnership Program.
$3.3M to Sarcee Meadows Housing Co-operative Ltd. to retrofit and build new seniors housing in Calgary;$1.4M to Airdrie Housing Limited to build affordable housing in Airdrie;$227,000 to Westwinds Communities to build family and community housing in Okotoks.$14.7M to Meridian Housing Foundation to build seniors units in Spruce Grove;
$2.3M to the City of Edmonton to build supportive housing for women and children fleeing family violence in Edmonton;$900,000 to Right at Home Housing Society to build housing for persons with disabilities, women and children in Edmonton; and
