“For someone buying the pill every month, this program will save them up to $10,000 over their lifetime,” said Notley, pegging the cost to government coffers at about $30 million per year.
Later Wednesday, status of women parliamentary secretary Tanya Fir was asked by reporters if it was a move the UCP would consider, but Fir said she would need more information before commenting. “There is actually significant access, so we’re not considering making changes. We will look at this down the road,” he said.
