Akron restaurant still dealing with issues from storm damage weeks later

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Local Mexican restaurant Don Jose in Akron , is still picking up the pieces after a strong storm system passed through Northeast Ohio earlier this month.“Definitely a heartbreaking, shock moment because you’ve been working a lot for this to get to this point, and then all of a sudden everything just goes down the drain, literally,” Hernandez said.

“We were starting to get more regulars in and everything before the storm. Now after the storm, the sales have been really decrease a lot.” Hernandez’s wife, Ashley Hernandez, says that though they have reopened, they just aren’t seeing the same amount of people as before. “For being brand new business owners, just being open since April, I mean we took a really big hit with it,” Ashley Hernandez said.“I’ve been here for 34 years, and I’ve never seen such a quantity of water come through this area,” Plaza Owner Nicole Lee said.

“We in the past had some standing water in our parking lot, however the night of that actual water intrusion, we’re talking in the center of the plaza’s parking lot– it was up like 3 and a half feet.”TownHall owner posts $200k bond; Bobby George surrenders passport following several felony chargesAkron Public Schools seeing positive results from cell phone ban
