Desean Williamson, 25, must serve at least 15 years before being eligible for parole, according to a news release from Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich. On Friday, a jury convicted Williamson of two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault in the shooting death of Gage Zirke.
Zirke, 20, was shot and killed on July 25, 2021, as he drove down a street in the Kenmore neighborhood. After Zirke’s car crashed into a tree on the 2300 block of 11th Street SW, he was found in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound to the torso, police say. “The murder of Gage Zirke will leave a void which will be felt by his family forever,” Kolkovich said in a statement. “My hope is today’s sentence will bring them peace knowing the person who did this will spend the rest of his life in prison.”
