While Texas can still grab a share of the Big 12 title game by beating TCU and KU next week, this loss to Baylor stung.
The gangly 6-foot-9 Pflugerville native sank a push shot in the lane then buried a pair of 3-pointers to keep the jam-packed arena subdued. Disu finished with a season-high 24 points on 10-for-15 shooting, one of five Longhorns in double figures — though they were also the only five to score for Texas all afternoon.
Baylor is close to invulnerable inside the Ferrell Center. The Bears entered Saturday 53-5 at home over the past four seasons, and they hadn’t allowed the Longhorns to enjoy a victorious bus ride back to Austin since Feb. 1, 2016. Baylor steadied itself, buoyed by a quartet of veterans from the 2021 national title team after it lost leading scorer Keyonte George just nine minutes into the game. The Bears wound up shooting 50 percent from the field and 47 percent from 3 even without its star freshman.
