A Caller at 9:20 p.m. on May 30 reported a reckless driver at Crocker Park who was speeding and flipping off other drivers. Officers located the described vehicle, observed dangerous driving, and attempted to stop it on Crocker Road. The driver fled in the vehicle.

Using the suspect’s license plate, the officers responded to the registered owner’s residence in North Olmsted. The owner explained that his 15-year-old son took the car without permission. The youth was called and responded to the house. The officers explained the ramifications of reckless driving and running from the police. He was turned over to his parents.
He gave the officers a couple of different names and dates of birth, but the officers soon learned that he was a 42-year-old Parma resident with six active warrants on charges including carrying a concealed weapon, child neglect, and shoplifting. He was field-tested and arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The officers noted that the man was nodding off while being processed in the jail.
The 46-year-old driver, who listed the hotel as his residence, possessed a loaded 9 mm handgun. He was not allowed to possess a firearm due to previous convictions of domestic violence, drug violations, and felonious assault, according to the police department. He was arrested and charged with felony possession of a weapon while under disability, driving with no license, and disobeying traffic control devices. The passengers were released.
