Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg celebrated the success of Threads, an Instagram app that looks and acts like Twitter, claiming the platform has nabbed millions of users in less than 24-hours.
Musk responded to the platform’s launch in several posts on his own platform, tweeting: "It is infinitely preferable to be attacked by strangers on Twitter, than indulge in the false happiness of hide-the-pain Instagram."
Connor Hayes, Instagram’s vice president of products who is helping lead the launch, confirmed Threads was created to be a direct competitor to Musk’s app. The Threads app, operated by Meta Platforms Inc., on a smartphone, besides a Twitter Inc. logo, on Tuesday, July 5, 2023. "My Facebook/Instagram social graph is basically all the people I knew in High School," wrote Austen Allred, the co-founder and CEO of Bloom Institute of Technology.
