Unlike YouTube, Facebook refuses to ban the video it admits is false.
A doctored video went viral last week appearing to show House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slurring her words. : Despite Facebook saying that its fact-checking system found a doctored video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to be false, Facebook users can still view, like and comment on the video on Facebook Watch and the original page it was posted on without ever encountering any disclaimers.
As of Tuesday afternoon, users are still commenting on the doctored Facebook Watch video where Pelosi is made to seem either drunk or otherwise impaired. The video has more than 29,000 comments and has been viewed more than 2.8 million times.Under fire for the wide distribution on social media, Facebook’s Monika Bickert defended the company’s handling of the video Friday
While the debate rages on over whether Facebook should take down the video, Grygiel said that regardless, the video should be clearly labeled.
